KOKO fund membership

KOKO - The unemployment fund for highly educated membership fee is 63 euros/year in 2024.

The fund's membership fee is collected from engineer members in connection with the union's membership fee, if the fund's membership is valid through the union. Student members are billed for the fund's membership fee as an annual fee.

Cash payment, like all ay membership fees, are tax deductible in Finland. The Engineers' Association reports membership fee information directly to the tax authority.

If you are a full-time student and you work at least 18 hours a week alongside your studies or during the summer, you should join the unemployment fund so that you can start accumulating the working condition. The working condition is 26 weeks. The review period of the employment condition can be extended to a maximum of seven years due to studies. The condition can be accumulated from several working periods with different employers, and weeks of less than 18 hours can also be left in between.

You can become a member of the unemployment fund while you are working during your studies. It's a good idea to get your membership in order as soon as you start your first paid employment. If you become unemployed after graduation or have to be laid off at your new workplace, as a member of the unemployment fund, you may be entitled to earnings allowance if you meet the working condition within the review period. The review period can start from the day you joined the unemployment fund at the earliest.
